Maharaja Agrasen College is a premier college of Delhi University, located in Mayur Vihar in the fast developing East Delhi area of the National Capital Region of Delhi.


 Background


Maharaja Agrasen College was established in 1994 with the objective of catering to the educational requirements of the densely populated East Delhi area. The college is fully funded by the Govt. of NCT of Delhi. Though the college is presently housed in a temporary building, it has valuable infrastructural assets like a computer centre, fully computerized Library, well equipped laboratories, state - of - the - art conference hall etc. The college has a 10 acre plot in Vasundhara Enclave for construction of its permanent building. The Govt. of NCT of Delhi has taken a keen interest in sanctioning multi-core building project which is likely to be completed in June 2010 and college will begin the academic session 2010-11 in the new building.

In the academic session 2008-2009, 1154 students were enrolled in 10 job oriented courses of this college, with a teaching faculty of 82 members.

The College is going to receive 80 new computers from the University. Planning has commenced for upgrading the computing facilities of the college. An EDP cell is being created which shall function as a central data based management unit. It will provide an integrated office automation solution by installing a centralized server and networking localized computer clusters through it. The college has procured a public address system of 2000 watts RMS capacity with digital quality sound. The public address system of the Conference has also been upgraded.

Add-on courses in news reading, anchoring and voice-over and cinematography offered by the college in association with HMS Films and TV Institute have enrolled their 2nd and 3rd batch and are becoming increasingly popular with our own students as well as outsiders. In collaboration with Wigan and Leigh College, the College has also made available add-on programmes in media, retail and graphic designing. The 6 Month add-on module offered by DOEACC is also running successfully in the College. We are among the few Delhi University colleges which conduct the 100 Hour bi-weekly English Language Proficiency Course – an initiative of the Institute of Life-long Learning, University of Delhi. The IGNOU study centre operating from the College offers several sought after courses.
